If players leave a slight delay after the second punch, they'll perform a Flash Punch Combo instead. Even Kazuya's neutral attack - the 10 Hit Combo - requires players to hold or continually hit A for the move to reach its climax. Fortunately, Smash has made the input window for these moves more forgiving than Tekken's single frame. The neutral is Crouch Dash, but players can combine it with the attack button for Wind God Fist. There's also attacks using fellow fighting game Street Fighter's Shoryuken command: forward, down, down-forward. As in Tekken gameplay, Kazuya's moves emphasize the importance of the combo. For example, Kazuya has a special throw, Gates of Hell, for which the input is down-forward, down, down-forward, grab. These inputs can be strung together in specific combos to unleash specific moves. Ultimate implement eight directions in the left control stick instead of Smash's standard four. In order to lure Kazuya and Jin out, Heihachi announces the fourth King of the Iron Fist championship, the final prize being the ownership of his corporation. Meanwhile, Jin goes into a self-imposed exile. Still, Kazuya's moves preserve Tekken's feel, to the point where he may feel more comfortable for Tekken players than Smash players.įor non-special attacks, Kazuya's moves in Smash Bros. However, Heihachis Tekken Force is defeated by the resurrected Kazuya. Not much to recommend here.Kazuya's moves beyond his specials are extremely nuanced, even for Smash. Sakurai explained that the team attempted to import Kazuya's martial arts moves from Tekken, but had to increase his speed and power because, compared to other Smash fighters, he felt relatively weak. There may be many tepid movies based on video games but this is one of the worst movies. There is no distinctive style, no interesting things happening and it looks like it is shot fast with not much consideration of locations.
I could at least see some efforts used to create the look in the first movie but in this, there is none. It makes the first one looks like a classic. Overall: There is almost no saving grace in this. There are many annoying pointless slo-mo scenes of characters walking and walking and bad editing. Take out the name, Tekken 2: Kazuya's Revenge, and you will get an uninspired action movie that is almost pointless to watch. Each fight scene is quite short shorter than one and a half minutes. Unlike the first movie, the choreography is boring and uninspired. It does contain some fight scenes but they are shockingly normal none of the characters have distinctive fight styles. I thought it will be an action-packed ride given the short runtime. The story: Kazuya wakes up in some unknown hotel room.
I thought I could let it go since I am not a fan but the fight scenes do not even make up for it or the lack of story. The characters do not look anything like the characters in the game. I may not be a fan of video games but I know if the movie tries to recreate the moments of the games and this has none. Now, back to this movie, the prequel is shockingly inept it is extremely low-budget and features some half-baked choreography, story and editing. I guess I could say that because I am not a fan of Tekken though I have watched the CGI Blood Vengeance. I know the first live-action movie was not well-received by fans and critics alike but I enjoyed its decent fight scenes.
